JOINT ANALYSIS ON THE SEXUAL OFFENCES BILL
Tranz Network Uganda conducted a joint analysis on the Sexual Offenses Bill to discuss the implication of this bill to the transgender community in Uganda. A great discussion that highlighted the different law clauses that could be used to target trans and gender diverse persons in the country.
In this bill, the Act under S.13 makes no attempt in defining what the order of nature is just as the penal code Act which basically complicates its implementation. However the laws are so evident in Uganda’s law books which definitely makes transgender people still prone to the arbitrary arrests and violation of their rights even when the cases may eventually be dismissed in the courts of law for want of prosecution and this will further entrench marginalization.
